I am doing an acoustic project band with a friend. The only way we can communicate is online and we are doing excellent work but I am on dial up internet and somehow our 4 minute track is 28MB! Is there a way to cut down the file size when recording. I use Audacity and Acid Pro.

I don't know what format you are recording in, but some formats compress smaller than others, example an if oyu compare the file size of a standard cd file and the same song as an MP3 the MP3 file will be much smaller, so you may be able to find a format that you can convert the file to so that its smaller for sending

Here is Radar Brian's tutorial on installing the Lame plugin for Audacity to convert files to MP3 so you can export.

I had no idea that converting to mp3 dramatically cuts the file size! That really helped! The file went from 28mb to 4.3mb! Thanks a lot for the help!
