I'll start off by giving an estimate of my skill as a guitar player.
I have been playing pretty regularly for about a year now (maybe 3-4 hours a week total). I can handle most chord changes and lock down on strumming patterns in songs pretty quickly. I'm no lead guitarist by any means yet.
On to the DVD-
Again on this DVD as on the others that I have played through the setup is straight forward and easy to navigate. None of the sections are that long so it you won't have to sit through much of a section in order to get to the parts that you are working. Quality of the vid is great. Sound is great also. A+.
This song to me was something that I have always enjoyed hearing and wanted to be able to play. I have read on here that it is a bit on the difficult side to hammer out, however, after about 2 weeks of moderate practice every other day or so on this song I have it down for the most part. Just like in other songs David works through it in sections and you put them all together at the end. The one thing I really liked about this DVD as opposed to the others I have been through is that there is a section where the entire song it played, but in this DVD particularly I think that it was necessary. Others I could understand that it wasn't necessarily needed, but again, it's something I would like to have seen on the others. Probably took away from time spent on the lesson though...
Anyhow. This version of the song is the one that you hear played on the radio. It is not the album version, the album version has a guitar solo thrown in at the end that doesn't appear here. This song is tuned in Eb. However, if you aren't playing along with the CD or DVD, then it sounds fine in standard also, and you can make your buddies sing it a half step higher just for fun.:)
There are a couple barre chords in the song, but don't let them scare you off, you can do it with some practice. This song is so much fun to play once you have it down!:) It's one of those songs that is pretty to hear even if you don't have the vocals on it going.
I would recommend this DVD to anyone at any skill level really. But you'll need to be proficient at chord changing before you take it on. The slapping and finger picking are something everyone needs in their arsenal, and YOU CAN DO IT TODAY with some time spent on this DVD.
Buy it!
Thanks Dave and Tim for the great DVD, and I'll be at my house rocking on with More Than Words now too!
