Just wondering who has a Crate amp and how you like it...I just got a Crate GTD 120/212 and LOVE it! With just the few built in effects, you can get a lot of great sounds....Reverb,Chorus,Delay. I'm thinking of getting a 412 cabinet and use the GTD as the head....any suggestions?

Hey I have a Crate CR-160 amp. I bought this used back in the early early 90's and love it too! I am considering going with a Crate Head and cab one of these days. This amp I have is so fricken loud , I can't turn it up past one without my wife and kids complaining not to mention the neighbours lol. It is a 160w of pure face melting power lol.

I have a crate GLX15 and it's great. Has about 20 different effects on it. It rattles the windows when I crank her up a bit. lol

I got a Crate XT15R,
i got it at the same time as i got my first
guitar and i really loved the sound of it,
i compared it to a Fender amp same watts
around same price, but sound not as
convincing as the Crate amp. Crate was
my 2nd choice after a Marshall but it
was more affordable than the Marshall
so i got it. Now my amp is torned and
doesnt sound as good anymore,
got broken on the way back from a
road trip to Las Vegas back in 05.
I love this amp, so many memories,
like when we were about to get
kicked out for coming to the room
and playing just half the volume at
3AM..and i tought everything went in Vegas haha.

Ahh that's too bad! Is the speaker torn? If so you can just get a replacement speaker for it. I am sure Crate may have some spare speakers in stock. I bought my Crate as I was looking for an amp that had power and good sound and of course good price as well. I bought the Crate CR160 for 499.99 USED back in 1991. I have contacted Crate about this amp and they don't have any specs on it as it is over 20 years old and I also wanted the footswitch for changing between channels but that too is not available anywhere. I have always wanted a Mesa Boogie Stack and that is what my hopes are for in the future unless I can test drive a Crate Stack and a Mesa Stack at the same time to compare. Lets face it anything Crate, Mesa, Marshall,Krank make is for rock to heavy metal and their amps reflect that in their sound.

Yes, the cone is torn, so bad that even
on clean it sounds as if i had distortion :D hahah
unless i turn the vol. down half way on my guitar
then it sounds ok. my cousin stuck a piece of
cardboard so it would hold and it doesnt sound as bad.
still gets me by, till i buy a new amp, i checked the crate
website, and they dont even have a manual online for it.
I'm thinking of buying a Marshall 30w for now. comes with
a footswitch too..i've heard good reviews about it.
I'm getting the MG30DFX, i wanted the marshall micro
stack cause it looks cool but it doesnt come with a
footswitch, and it's only 15w, for the same price
as the MG30 both $299.
Maybe i can find something on ebay for my Crate amp
cause it does sound great too.. it'd be a shame to
dump it.

I haven't heard a single good word about Marshall Mg Amps or any Marshall solid state/hybrid amp. IMO they are kind of overpriced.

I don't have a Crate, but I played through a Black Voodoo once ($600) talk about an amp with an awesome sound. The thing that hold Crate amps back is the cabinets. To me they sound somewhat bad and doesn't allow the amp its full potential. Playing the BV through a Marshall Cab, it reminded me of a Mesa Rectifier  with the sound.

hey guys. i just got a crate gt15R. its really quite loud for a 15W amp. i live in an apartment so its hard to really crank it up without my neighbours complaining (havent tried it though..maybe i should just to see how far it can go..lol)

been experimenting with the settings and found a few that i like..but would really appreciate if anyone could give tips for a crunchy rock sound.. not too heavy though. thanks a lot.. and this forum is great!

I've had a crate rfx120 for about a year now, and man, it's bitchin!!! Tone it great, goes great with dist pedals, nice reverb, plus it's a gorgeous looking amp as well. I'm a pretty happy camper.

I'm waiting on my Blackheart still, which is a division of Crate if I'm not mistaken. I'll post thoughts when I get it.

I still have my blackheart and just got a Crate Blue Voodoo half stack. I sold the head from the stack to buy a mesa boogie triple rectifier but I did keep the Crate 4x12 cabinet

I have a Crate Palomino V32 tube amp. Its only sold at guitar center and it has the old look to it. Very cool tube amp and so loud I can only play it on 3. They say the tubes are set so that you can get the good tone on low because the tubes still heat up. Anyway, it's a great amp. Clean, gain and reverb. The reverb is a little weak but on high it would be about the normal level I use anyway. I love the look of this amp.

I bought a used Crate G1500 head and a Traynor cabinet from a friend recently... only a clean and crunch channel but it sounds great. I decided to buy a FlexWave 120H 1/2 Stack from AMS today as well. I mean, I've planned on buying it for a while but just plunked down the $$ today.

I'm taking the G1500 to another friends and leaving it there to jam with and the new one stays here.

I bought a Crate V32 Palomino from MusiciansFriend in the winter, and its a 2x12 30 Watt all tube amp. It's not as nice as my Orange but it's very good for the money.
