I'm having issues with the proper fret hand technique David teaches with the wrist being down. For the life of me, I can't get my wrist into that position! My wrist flexibility is rather poor and so what happens is when I'm trying to play Em my palm is touching the neck and usually touching the high E string.

Has anyone else had this problem when starting and is there any good flexibility exercises one can do to help this?

If I hold my arms straight out in front of me and try to make my palms face up (90 degrees) I can't do it. They face maybe 45 degrees if they're lucky. I just can't twist enough to make my wrist go down when trying to fret.

It's been very frustrating and I have not touched my guitar very much b/c of it.

Thanks.

what i would do is take a tennis ball or handball in your hand, then try to put your hand in the position or as close as you can to the postition, do it like 2x a day and when you master that try with the guitar

hope it helps

I find that holding the headstock higher allows me to lower my wrist. maybe its just me.
