Hello, Good People!
Since I just posted a reply to a post in here, I thought it might be prudent for me to finally introduce myself.
Of course, like many of you, I discovered David's videos on YouTube when I was scouting for online lessons. I am drawn to David's enthusiasm and his attention to detail. I feel like he's in the room with me, and even when I can't quite make that chord shape, I swear he's practically reaching out and moving my fingers into place.

I don't think I could have a better teacher, and I'm starting to finally feel enthusiastic about playing the guitar again, after getting over some of the hurdles of beginner lessons 1-99. When I found the segment where David suggested songs to play that would help reinforce the lessons, I was PUMPED!
My history with the guitar started when I was in my teens, when I received my first guitar for a Christmas gift in 1968. It was a Kent classical guitar. I still have it; and, with some work, it still sounds pretty good. I took a few lessons at the YMCA. The one song I remember from that class, and still play, is "A'Soalin'" (made famous by Peter, Paul & Mary). I have always loved most kinds of music, but the discovery of Styx "One With Everything" DVD (I hear giggling out there.

) and my love of playing RockBand with my husband and grown kids really propelled me to get back to my rockin' roots.
So now, at 50-something, I have my old faithful Kent classical and a new/old electric blue Yamaha electric sitting in their stands in my computer room, along with the used Peavey speaker I bought from Guitar Center. My intention is to get good enough to be able to help accompany the contemporary Christian singing group I've been with for 7 years. We have had guitar accompaniment at various times, but not lately, and I miss it. I'd LOVE to eventually aquire a nice acoustic/electric guitar for this purpose. Also, I really want to learn how to play barre chords and distort my amp so I can play the first part of "Enter Sandman" on my Yamaha with more panache.
I realize most of the guitar players in here are guys. I would love to talk with some of the GALS in here. Maybe I should start a thread in the forum.
